Programme and Impact Development Lead
Alan leads programme and impact development at the Centre for Genomic Pathogen Surveillance, contributing to the delivery of the NIHR Global Health Research Unit and the WHO Collaborating Centre on Genomic Surveillance of AMR. His work spans strategic planning, training, and stakeholder engagement, with a focus on strengthening capability and collaboration across low- and middle-income country (LMIC) settings.
Working closely with partners in the Philippines, Nigeria, India and Colombia, Alan supports locally led capacity development and helps shape inclusive, values-driven approaches to global health programming. He coordinates learning and engagement activities, develops accessible resources, and contributes to the design and evaluation of initiatives that aim to build long-term capability and equitable research partnerships.
With a background in teaching, science communication, and public engagement, Alan brings a people-centred approach to his work. He is particularly committed to fostering shared ownership, reflection, and sustainability across teams and systems. His role supports the translation of strategic vision into meaningful action—ensuring that impact is not only measured, but also deeply felt.
Alan is based at the Big Data Institute in Oxford, where he works across teams to align programme delivery with broader institutional and global goals.
