With only two weeks until the International Pandemic Sciences Conference, delegates around the world can still participate in vital discussions by joining the event online.
While in-person registration is full, online registration is open until 29 June, and is free for students currently enrolled at any higher-education institution and delegates residing in Low- and Middle-Income Countries.
On Monday 30 June and Tuesday 1 July, online delegates will be able to attend all plenary sessions in real time, as well as the opening keynote and the closing awards ceremony. They will also have the chance to connect with fellow delegates and discuss key topics in interactive breakout rooms, fostering valuable conversations and new collaborations.
The plenary sessions
Under the theme "Getting Ahead of the Curve", the conference will explore how we can unite across disciplines and sectors to predict, identify, and control epidemic and pandemic threats worldwide.
The plenary sessions open to online delegates will be delivered by high-profile international speakers from multiple disciplines across pandemic sciences. They will cover topics ranging from prediction and surveillance to next-generation disease control tools to policy and implementation.
A lunchtime session on Monday will focus on the Pandemic Agreement that was recently adopted at the World Health Assembly in Geneva.
Session chair and PSI Investigator Professor Alice Norton will bring together panellists across different contexts to reflect on the meaning of this historical milestone.
For Professor Norton, the Pandemic Agreement marks a “a welcome commitment to solidarity in the face of infectious disease threats”, with the years of negotiations taken reflecting “the complexity of the issues covered and the competing demands across different countries and sectors”.
