DPhil student in Genomic Medicine and Statistics

Following my undergraduate degree in Biology at the University of St Andrews, I joined the Genomic Medicine and Statistics DPhil programme. My project aims to examine the role of deletions and insertions (indels) in the evolution of SARS-CoV-2. I work on deletions at different scales, from the emergence of novel deletions during persistent infection, to the global dynamics of lineage defining deletions such as del69-70. I primarily use genomic data collected by the Office for National Statistics' COVID-19 infection survey (ONS-CIS). My project is supervised by Dr Katrina Lythgoe, Dr Matthew Hall and Prof Daniel Wilson.
